Full description

Begin your day with a pickup and travel to Ardales. Make a stop at the Venta El Cruce, which is a local restaurant with plenty of typical local products and delicacies.

Return to the coach and continue until you reach the northern access point of the Caminito del Rey. Walk through a small long tunnel to reach the natural paths that lead to the entrance checkpoint of the gorges. Receive a helmet and listen to the safety instructions. Your guide will join you and explain to you what you will find during the trek and give you many hints about the history of this peculiar construction.

The Gorge, called Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, is a natural pass across the hills that separate the Malaga coastline from the inlands. The River Guadalhorce flows at the bottom of the gorges, after having passed through the reservoirs.

El Chorro means the Spurt and your guide will explain why.  El Caminito de Rey, after many year of total abandonment, is now a rebuilt path that stretches between two gorges or canyons and a large valley. It is safe and comfortable to walk as most of the path is flat or downhill.

The route goes in one direction downhill from the north to the south. The bus will be waiting at the exit point. Once the group is on board the coach, you will return to the Costa del Sol and be dropped off at your pickup point.

This was a fantastic trip. The guided, Alex, was very nice and was a good guide on the way to Caminito del Rey. There was no guide giving talks along the trail through so if you are looking for more of a guide audio tour then you may want to try another tour. However, if you want an easy way to do the hike then this tour is for you.

We really enjoyed this activity. The hike is very doable even if you think you have a fear of heights! I thought I’d be anxious but I felt very safe even on the bridge on a windy day. It is not a strenuous hike. Ales, our guide, did a great job explaining everything on the bus on the way to the site. Then we got to hike on our own which was preferable to us.

The tour was excellent, well organised and the guide gave us all the information about the area and it’s history along with the maps. I’m leaving four stars because I did feel like the time at Caminito was a bit rushed. Although the guide said we can take our time, we were conscious of where the group was and tried not to hold anyone back so a lot of the time it did feel like we had to pick up the speed whilst other groups were having picnicks and some extra time. The views are spectacular so it’s nice to have extra time to enjoy it although I do understand that you’re not going to be able to go at your own speed when with a group. I do still very highly recommend it, can’t wait to come back!
