It is imperative to come to the opening at 8:00 or risk ending up in line at the entrance in the heat. From 10:00 the buses arrive to pour out waves of tourists. Duration of the visit without a guide: 1 hour Bring bottled water, sunscreen and something to cover your head. If you do the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion first, take the museum + Knossos combo straight to the museum. Indeed at the museum counter, the 2 sites would have been free for our 15 year old daughter and on GYG she paid the price as an adult. Maybe I misread GYG?

Tickets can easily be sent to your mobile phone, and can also be called up offline with the app. However, I find the surcharge of 5 € for not having to wait in line borderline high. And that the free entry for children cannot be used is a pity, especially families with smaller children are happy if they don't have to wait forever in the sun. And Knossos is always worth a visit.

Online booking highly recommended!! Just walking past the endless line of people waiting in high season and being there in 2 minutes is just wonderful! And Knossos itself is absolutely worth seeing and should not be missed by anyone holidaying in Crete!
