Full description

Your professional tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM. After a 2-hour drive, you will arrive in Cusipata where you will stop for breakfast and buy water and snacks for the trek.

Following breakfast, you'll travel one more hour to the hike starting point, at 4,850 meters. From there you will start your 3.5-kilometer trek to Rainbow Mountain over both flat and uphill terrain.

During your hike, you will enjoy amazing views and encounters with wild alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas. Once you reach the top at 5,010 meters, you can make use of some free time to take a break, and if the weather is good, you will be able to enjoy views over Rainbow Mountain. You'll go downhill to the starting spot for another hour. Then, take transportation back to Cusipata where a local lunch will be waiting for you. Once you finish your buffet lunch you will travel back to Cusco, where you will arrive between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM at Plaza de Armas.

Had a great time visiting Vinicunca with Inka Altitude. The transit time was long (3 hours in each direction), but stops for breakfast and lunch occurred in each direction. The guide (Cesar) was very helpful and provided regular moral support since even walking on flat surfaces at 15000-16000 feet is difficult! Definitely recommend this company to visit Vinicunca.

We recommend this experience, it's absolutely magical! Our guide (Caesar) was very present to help. We were slightly apprehensive about this step because many people described it to us as difficult, in all sincerity, it is far from being insurmountable. Take your time, remember to breathe, enjoy the scenery and you'll be fine!

Long day long drive early start 100% worth it! Well organised, hike is easy just need to go slow but you can also rent a horse if needed. Views from the top are amazing, all the surrounding is beautiful not just the rainbow mountain itself. Breakfast and lunch buffet were delicious. All well organised and smooth, also when you hike you'll be free to go at your own pace, the guide simply stays with the back of the group. One word of advise: at the breakfast place and when you'll start the hike it's much colder than in Cusco, make sure you layer up for it
