Full description
Spend the day hiking to Huchuy Qosqo, an Incan archaeological site, and be surprised by the natural beauty of the trail. Enjoy views of the valley and Vilcanota River along the way. Your hiking adventure begins with a pickup in Cusco's historic center. Drive to the community of Tauca located 3,600 meters above sea level and begin your hike. Pass through Chinchero and near the beautiful Piuray Lagoon. Reach the Pucajasa Pass (4,300 meters above sea level), the highest point of the trek, see two apacheta structures, and have a beautiful view of the mountains. As you descend on the Incan trail to Huchuy Qosqo, notice how new colors take over the atmosphere while you enter a valley full of queñuales and medicinal plants. Upon entering Huchuy Qosqo, be impressed by the construction of stone and adobe structures. After visiting the archaeological site, start the last leg of your hike to the town of Lamay where a vehicle will wait for you to take you back to your hotel.
