We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Stratford-upon-Avon, although there was a steady drizzle the whole day. Because we were only there for one day we couldn’t spend as much time as we would have liked but made sure we went to the most important places to us. The bus drivers were friendly and helpful too but the bus we were on had several leaks coming from the ceiling! It made for an interesting ride as we had to change seats a few times but we really didn’t mind.

Misleading starting point directions

Our trip round Stratford on the bus was generally excellent except for the fact on our ticket it stated the starting point was the Swans Nest Pub/Avon Boating. We waited there for 20 mins and on asking someone, they directed us to the Visitors Information Centre over the bridge. The area adjacent to it is the correct starting point, though you can join the bus at any point on the route, just apparently NOT the Swans Nest/ Avon Boating. This is very confusing, leading us to waste about 40 minutes with only time to take in Anne Hathaway's cottage very briefly. At £11.50 per person this seemed like an expensive visit, but the ticket can be used for up to a year. The audio guide you get with your headphones is extremely interesting and the view from the top of the bus at the front very much better than downstairs. In my view, this is the best way to take in Stratford's places of interest, but buy a car parking ticket for up to six hours, for time to add on a river cruise afterwards.

Excellent way to see Stratford sights

An excellent way to view the sights of Stratford and in particular to visit Anne Hathaway's cottage and Mary Arden house and farm saving having to drive out of the town. Frequent buses so not much hanging around waiting and they run to timetable. All in all would recommend and if you buy online in advance you save a little on the price.
