River Rafting

Going rafting down the Dunajec river is one of the most beloved and classic tourist attractions in all of Poland. The tour begins at 9:00am from the center of Krakow, or from your place of accommodation in the city. After about 2 hours, you will reach the boating center, where you will board a traditional wooden watercraft, operated by a river guide in customary regional dress. This stunningly scenic water route will gently take you 15 kilometers downstream, underneath legendary mountain peaks and alongside thick woodlands and winding nature paths. You may even spot some curious local wildlife along the way! After the exhilarating ride, there is a break for lunch in the pretty little resort town of Szczawnica. On the way back to Krakow, you will visit a cherished fifteenth century church that’s inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Located in Dębno Podhalańskie, it’s dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, and is part of the Wooden Architecture Trail around Krakow. This important and distinct church is one of the trail’s highlights. The entire day will last 8-9 hours in total.

After being picked up at 8 or 9 AM from your accommodation in Krakow, your driver, who is also your tour leader, will drive you into the Polish countryside. Make a quick stop in Dębno, a small village with one of the oldest churches in Poland. Next head to Niedzica, where you can admire the picturesque view of a medieval castle situated by the lake. Continue on to the Pieniny National Park where your rafting experience will begin. Enjoy a relaxed rafting trip along the Dunajec River where you can take in the stunning views of the high limestone cliffs, rich flora, and fauna. After 2.5 hours of drifting, arrive in the small health-resort town of Szczawnica. Here, there will be time to find a local tavern and try the traditional tastes of the region. On the way back home you will travel through the beautiful Gorczański National Park before you are returned to your accommodation in Krakow. The entire tour lasts about 8 hours. 

The Dunajec River Gorge, the narrow valley of 9 kilometres length, is featured on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. While floating down the Dunajec, you can explore the biggest attractions of Pieniny National Park, including limestone cliffs ranging between 300m and 500m in height, and a rich flora and fauna. Since almost 160 years, rafting on this river has been organized by locals for tourists, in the past mainly for guest of nearby castles. Today it is one of the most exciting experiences you can have in the area, providing fun and excitement for those young and old. Before getting on the raft, your guide will take you to Debno to see one of the oldest churches in Poland. On your way, you will also stop in Niedzica to admire the medieval castle, situated picturesquely on the shore of lake. The main attraction of the day – rafting on River Dunajec – will take around 2.5 hours and will end in charming small town of Szczawnica. After lunch, you'll hit the road and travel back to Krakow through Gorczanski National Park – the best way to finish unforgettable day.
