Ponta da Piedade (Portuguese for "point of mercy") is a headland with a group of rock formations along the coastline of the town of Lagos, in the Portuguese region of the Algarve. Consisting of yellow-golden cliff-like rocks up to 20 meters high, they are one of the most famous touristic attractions of Portugal. The location also contains a lighthouse, dating back to 1913. Actual Boat Trips operates two six meter boats for our 1 hour cave tour. On one of our smaller boats, we take you along the coast visiting the famous caves of Ponta da Piedade. We start our tours from the old Fisherman´s Harbor along the river and Lagos historical downtown. The unique Beaches and rock formations will take your breath away. You will begin by meeting your skipper and local guide at the Marina de Lagos. From there the adventure begins. You will enjoy a fantastic experience cruising along the beautiful coastline of Ponta da Piedade in Lagos and visiting the emblematic rock formations, fantastic beaches, little coves, and sea caves recognized for their unique features. Visit wonderful beaches such as "Potato Beach", "Student Beach", "Pinhão Beach", "Dona Ana Beach", "Camilo Beach", "Nudist Beach", "Praia Grande Beach", as well as the wonderful cove of Ponta da Piedade and the breathtaking beaches of "Barranco Martinho", "Canavial" and "Porto de Mós". Enjoy the curious and funny rock formations that resemble animals and objects, such as "The Elephant", "The Camel", "The Gorilla (King Kong)", "The Titanic", and "The Scale". You will also discover the most beautiful coastline of the Algarve (Ponta da Piedade in Lagos), cruising through narrow passages such as "The Siamese Twins", "The Arch of Triumph", and "The Corridor (Hallway)". You will visit the interiors of fantastic caves, including the famous “Cathedral”, “The Kitchen”, “The Living Room” and "The Skull". Towards the end of your tour, you will pass by the lighthouse of Ponta da Piedade, which was built in 1912 on old church grounds. You can then relax and marvel at the sunset and its mystical colors, with your experience ending after sundown at which point you will return to Marina de Lagos.
