Full description

Embark on a guided day trip through the lush pastures of Ireland from Dublin. Tour the vast Wicklow Mountains and see the monastery of Glendalough. Lose yourself in the medieval lanes of Kilkenny.

Depart from Dublin and set off on a luxury bus to Glendalough. As you journey out of the city, your guide will fill you in on many interesting facts and fun stories about Dublin.

Arrive at Glendalough, considered one of the most beautiful corners of Ireland. Enjoy an optional guided tour of the monastic settlement and some free time to explore the area or relax at a local café.

The more adventurous can opt to take a hike to the Upper Lake and return via a boardwalk (approx. 2.5 km). The route takes you past the Lower Lake through a stunning nature trail that leads deep into the valley and on to the Upper Lake.

Continue to the Wicklow Mountains. As you drive, your guide will tell you about its geology and history. Pass through famous movie locations featured in P.S. I Love You and Braveheart. Stop for a 10-minute photo opportunity at the Wicklow Gap before a scenic ride to Kilkenny.

Once you reach Kilkenny, have free time to navigate the narrow lanes and historic buildings. Admire its extraordinary castle where you can picnic, or enjoy lunch in the local pubs. Then, join an optional guided tour of the city before making your way back to Dublin.

I went on this trip with my sister and we both enjoyed it quite a lot! The guide Pat was engaging and the driver Alec drove safely. You never actually really stop in the mountains, except for a quick 10-minute photo opportunity. Both Glendalough and Kilkenny were beautiful. The only tip i would like to give is that you either follow the tour guide and recommendations, or you do your own thing. You will not have time to do both. The walk to and from Upper lake in Glendalough takes roughly 40-50 minutes and won't give you enough time to sit down at a Cafe. I recommend the tour in Kilkenny, but you will only have time to eat your lunch beforehand, and only a few minutes to do some shopping afterwards. All in all a very positive experience!

We had an absolutely amazing experience in our tour with the brilliant Pat and his phenomenal drive Alec. They really made the experience for us and Pat’s commentary and his going above and beyond to be personable with every passenger was so endearing and not seen in many other tour guides. This was our first time booking with GetYourGuide and we are so happy that we did and we will definitely be booking again. If you happen to have Pat and Alec as your tour guide and driver you should count yourself extremely lucky because it is a guarantee that you will have an absolutely extraordinary time! 10/10 recommend!

Absolut sensationell!
