Full description

Cross the border to Montenegro from Dubrovnik and explore the treasures of the Bay of Kotor on a full-day guided tour. Visit the picturesque towns of Perast and Kotor and take in the breathtaking views of Our Lady of the Rocks on an optional bay cruise.

Depart Dubrovnik in the morning in an air-conditioned vehicle and head for the Croatian/Montenegrin border. Stop at the border for a coffee break before continuing to your first stop, Perast.

Arrive at the town of Perast and embark on a short 15-minute guided tour followed by 45-minutes of free time. Admire its Baroque architecture and lush hillsides before boarding your reserved boat for a scenic cruise on the Bay of Kotor (if option selected).

Sail to Our Lady of the Rocks island, an artificial island situated in the heart of the bay. Disembark for a guided visit of the island and step inside the idyllic blue-domed church and museum.

Then, resume your boat tour to Kotor, soaking up the views of the Montenegrin coastline lined with orange-roofed houses and sloping hills. If you choose not to take the cruise, relax on a scenic bus ride along the coast to the old town of Kotor.

On arrival, join a 30-minute guided tour if you like, or discover the town at your own pace. Follow your guide through the narrow streets of this UNESCO-listed town, located on the only natural fjord of its kind.

After the tour, enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to browse local shops, try traditional cuisine, or walk beside the 4.5-kilometer city walls. Feel free to ask your guide for recommendations. Finally, board the bus once more for a comfortable ride back to Dubrovnik.

This tour has been one of our highlights! Montenegro is def a must see if you come to Dubrovnik. Everything in this tour was so well organized. Bus was on time since the pick up. :) Our tour guide Maria is almost the best tour guide I have ever experienced in my trip around Europe. She is so knowledgeable and is able to explain everything clearly. All in all, please do not miss this tour if you ever come to Dubrovnik. You will absolutely love it!

The Bay of Kotor was breath taking and a well worthwhile trip. The organisation however was chaotic... turning back to pick up someone from another trip, a long and wait at the border partially due to issues that could have been resolved before getting there, and a tour guide that wanted everyone to go on the boat trip to help with logistics which ended up making the one person who didn't want to go feeling very uncomfortable. However the bay and Kotor made up for it!!

The Bay of Kotor and the surrounding mountains are certainly beautiful. Though Perast is nothing special in my opinion and the town of Kotor may be interesting to some, kind of like a miniature Dubrovnik. If you’re wondering whether the boat tour is worth it, I think it is. You ride through Kotor Bay itself for about 40 minutes total and have a wonderful guide telling you about the surrounding region - in our case this was with Rezna (I hope this is correct) who was lighthearted, friendly and enthusiastic. This was especially refreshing because the locals seem to be less well-mannered and look down on tourists a bit more than in Croatia I must say; this is not just my experience. But of course this has nothing to do with the tour operation itself. As far as border control goes, going there we waited for just under an hour, going back even less than that. I would recommend this trip for the experience. If you have to choose between this or the Bosnia tour, I’d choose Bosnia.
