Private Tour of National Park Plitvice from Dubrovnik

6. Private Tour of National Park Plitvice from Dubrovnik

Enjoy a private sightseeing day trip with a local guide. You will be taken to the first and the largest national park in Croatia which was founded in 1949, and has also been on the list of UNESCO's world heritage since 1979. Plitvice lakes are a unique natural phenomenon: 16 picturesque lakes which are connected by a number of cascading waterfalls. Travertine barriers, which were made in a period of about ten thousand years, are one of the fundamental features of the park. The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors ranging from azure to green, grey, or blue, depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. The National Park covers an area of 29,482 hectares. The high forests, which in some places seem almost primeval, contain a wealth and variety of animal and plant life. There are deer, bears, wolves, wild boar, wild cats, small game and many kinds of birds.  With the use of about eight kilometers of pathways and wooden walking trails around the lakes, it is possible to see all of the 16 lakes and waterfalls by boat, train or on foot.

Had a brilliant trip going to Kravice waterfalls & then on to the city of Mostar on 1st October. The journey was just over 2 hours long but seemed a lot quicker as our guide made it very interesting telling us lots of different information plus the transport was very comfortable. We arrived at the Kravice waterfalls before anyone else which was a added bonus. Make sure you bring swimming clothes as there isn’t much else to do there apart from swim. The next stop was Mostar and what a beautiful city it was. Our next guide there was quite good, a bit hard to understand at times but thats ok. Definitely recommend while you’re in Dubrovnik!

We were picked up from the hotel. The ride was comfortable and the driver Luka was wonderful. It was like a mini tour along the way during the drive. In Mostar Irfaan, our local guide, explained us about the history of the place and showed us the beautiful city. On our way back we stopped at the Kravice waterfall. Very serene and beautiful. Not many tourists.Overall a very memorable trip and highly recommended to anyone travelling to Croatia.
