    Full description
    On our full-day excursion to Montenegro we leave Dubrovnik early in the morning and drive to the rafting camp that’s situated on the banks of the River Tara. We’ll have a breakfast of local Montenegrin dishes when we arrive. Breakfast will be followed by a short instructional program in river rafting and then we’ll be transported by jeep to the point where our rafting adventure begins! The River Tara runs through Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and forms the border between the countries in several places. The Tara River Gorge, which is the longest canyon in Europe and second in the world to the Grand Canyon, is 78 kilometers in length and 1,300 meters high at its tallest point. It is part of Durmitor National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Shortly after we begin rafting, we pass through the most attractive part of the canyon. We’ll see waterfalls and wild springs along the way and make stops for photos and swimming. After rafting down 25 kilometers of the River Tara, we’ll arrive at the rafting center, where you’ll have time for a warm shower and lunch. You’ll be treated to local specialties as you enjoy lunch overlooking the river. When we’ve finished lunch we’ll head back to Dubrovnik, arriving in the late afternoon.

    We had a great time. Very friendly driver drove us from Dubrovnik. When we got there everything was taken care of. Food was good, excellent views of the gorge. Rafting was great. Water was frigid - Glad they provided wet suits. Had a great time. Enjoyed the pivo stood with our raft mates.

    Be prepared for photo opps on the car ride (it's 4 hours one way!). Be prepared for this. Try to get a window seat because the scenery is stunning! The food was delicious, and they were very welcoming at the base where we changed into our wetsuits (they gave me an extra thing to wear underneath because I was freezing... how nice!). They had a VERY ADORABLE giant dog that we obsessed over before breakfast (her name is Donna). Upon discovering my GoPro battery was dead, the owner or manager (or whoever the owner of Donna is) lent me their nice Canon camera in a waterproof housing and let me put my memory card in. So kind! We took an extremely bumpy road down to the river (10 min). Then the fun began. However, our guide was, for lack of better words, a complete douchebag. Honestly. He didn't introduce himself or tell us he was our guide or ask our names or go over any safety info. He got in the boat, and didn't smile or speak THE ENTIRE RIDE other than "stop" and "go." We still had fun:)

    The tour was excellent. The ride from Croatia took us to Bosnia and Serbia before reaching Montenegro and the views were spectacular. The rafting experience was superb, all equipment is provided. The meals were tasty and the service on the whole was great. Highly recommended!!!
