Full description
Spend a day discovering the land and legends of Scottish heroes William Wallace and Rob Roy, and experience the natural beauty of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Begin with a photo stop at The Kelpies (from April 1, 2020). Enjoy a memorable visit to Stirling Castle, explore the pretty villages of Aberfoyle and Loch Lomond Shores, and set off on a spectacular cruise across Loch Lomond. Departing Edinburgh, head to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, one of the prettiest and largest lochs in the whole of Scotland. Here you can enjoy an hour-long cruise taking in spectacular views of the loch’s many islands and the surrounding mountains. Alternatively, take a stroll through the picturesque loch-side conservation village of Loch Lomond Shores, with its quaint houses, cafes, and stunning views across the loch’s western shoreline.  Enter The Trossachs National Park, also known as “The Highlands in miniature” for its abundance of lochs, mountains, and forests, and famous as the homeland of the legendary outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor. Continue on, past medieval Doune Castle, to the pretty town of Aberfoyle, situated on the banks of the River Teith in Stirlingshire, where you stop to enjoy some lunch.  Travel north-west for your last stop of the day at magnificent Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most historically significant castles, sitting high on volcanic rock and offering wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. You will have time to visit the castle and learn of the exploits of key historical figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots. With lots of interesting things to see and do here, the Stirling Castle experience is a must for any visitor to Scotland. Travel back to Edinburgh.

We had a lovely day and saw beautiful things on that tour. Martin, our guide/ driver, was very friendly and knowledgeable, very clear with instructions (time to be back to the van, etc...). Good atmosphere in the van with Scottish music. The weather was beautiful too. Only downside is that the entrance fees to the castle and the cruise are not included in the price. But overall a very good tour!!

We had soo much fun with Andrew as the driver. He was a very knowledgeable and decent person, genuinely fun to be around. This alone made the experience interesting and satisfying. He knew the roads so well, along with knowledge that helped us understand Scotland a lot better. We feel lucky and privileged that Andrew was our driver, a big big big THANK YOU from all of us!

Late leaving due to coach breakdown and another coach being delivered. Coach tour was fine. Lake cruise on Loch Lomond was booked separately and that was clear on the emails etc I received; what was not clear, was the need to book separately for Sterling Castle. This caused another delay in the timetable as myself and others had to book at the venue, luckily we could get in.
