What people are saying about Mandalay
This was a highlight of my trip to Myanmar. The ride through the villages was so magical, with "hello" being shouted from the smiling faces along with several high fives... Visiting the businesses and seeing how they live day-by-day was a treat... The pagodas... rice fields... and the grand finale at U Bein bridge, watching the sunset from the boat - the icing on the cake. The ride is flat and not difficult, so not to worry. And my guide (since I was solo on this day's journey) spoke very good english and was very informative. Thank you Wai "Linn" Aung! You're the best.
If you're into Burmese history and old ruins, then this tour is up your alley. Our guide, Mr Brown, was very knowledgeable about the ancient cities and really took the time to explain the details. He even brought us to this place for lunch that served food suited to our palate. The only thing that I'd recommend to other travellers is to bring along a face mask as it can be very dusty at certain places.
This tour absolutely made my trip to Mandalay! I loved going to see the local indoor market which is huge and really unique and learning from Wine my guide about all the produce. This was followed by a lovely cycle around town and then through the countryside where we saw farms and rice fields. Finally we sampled some delicious local delicacies at a Mandalay tea shop.
Well organised, on time pickup from hotel and very competant driver together with good english speaking guide. We enjoyed his information and speaking with him. The lunch at a local Mandalay restaurant was a highlight, great food and company with the driver and guide.
Our guide was absolutely lovely. She was a knowledgeable young woman who spoke excellent English and answered all of our questions. She asked our preference often. Our driver was also excellent, kind, courteous and a safe driver.
