    Planning Your Visit

    • Best time to visit?

      The Rijksmuseum is open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM every day of the year (yep, even Christmas!). To avoid queues, arrive before 10:00AM or after 3:00PM, although the latter won't allow you time to see much. April, May, and August are its busiest months, when visitors can expect to queue for about half an hour at peak times.

    • How to get there?

      The Rijksmuseum is located in Museumplein (Museum Square) in Amsterdam South. It can be reached via trams 2 and 5 to the Rijksmuseum tram stop, 7 and 12 to Museumplein, and 10 to Spiegelgracht.v

    • How much time?

      Obviously some visitors will prefer to take their time with each artwork, while others may have an itinerary of the best bits so they can skip the rest. Either way, plan a minimum of 2-3 hours there.

    Me and my girlfriend went to Amsterdam in the last week of October for a few days and got the Amsterdam card for 2 days of the trip and we managed to get so much done! We went to the ARTIS Zoo, Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Moco museum and went on a canal cruise. We also went to the Body Worlds exhibition. The card is definitely value for money and I just wish I'd have got an extra day on it to do more things. Amsterdam is amazing and the I Amsterdam City Card is 100% worth getting!

    Hatalmas múzeum, rengeteg látnivalóval. Olyan sokkal, hogy egy idő után fárasztóvá válik a látogatás, egyszerűen nem tudja befogadni a szem és az ész. Egy idő után már a tájékozódás is fárasztóvá vált, hogy hol voltunk már és még mit kéne megnézni. Persze nem véletlen, hogy Európa egyik legkomolyabb gyűjteményével rendelkezik a Rijks...

    I booked 48 hr card. Easy to book museums and canal cruise online, used the 24 hr bike rental included which you can start at anytime within the card time so I walked around for 2 days and used the bike rental on the 3rd day before 11 am when the card expired. It was good value if you are doing a few things

    Make sure you get map when you first get inside, pre book your tickets for quick access, and stow coat etc in the well organized cloakroom. spend the next few hours wandering. Loved it. Got lost a few times. Definitely get a map!

    If you are planning on visiting many place in Amsterdam and move relatively alot with Transportation...this card is very very useful. Only the NS train service is not inclused in the card (Stand: 12.10.2020)
