Full description
Start your tour of Yangon with a quick walk along city streets that lead down to the riverside and jetty, where you will board a public ferry across the mighty Yangon River. Journey for 10 minutes from one side to the other and get a great view of daily river life.

Then, either travel by private taxi or catch a dyna truck (a pickup truck similar to a songthaew, the shared taxis common to Thailand and Laos). Drive through the countryside as you head towards the town of Twante, where local potters work with traditional tools, kilns and materials. Visit a community of artisans, and see some of their products. Learn how their work is produced, and then participate in a literal hands-on lesson as you test out their traditional pottery methods.

Next, walk uphill for about 20 minutes to reach Shwesandaw Pagoda, one of the highest pagodas in Myanmar. Take in the fantastic view of the surrounding area and feel 1,000 years of history at your feet. Then, it’s time for lunch at a popular local restaurant that specializes in vegetarian cuisine. The restaurant is situated close to the local market, and you’ll have plenty of time to relax and explore the area.

End your Yangon adventure with a return ferry ride, but not before your guide has pointed out a few noteworthy sites on the way back. Board the boat to re-cross the Yangon River, and return to downtown Yangon.
