Over time, the memory of the location of the ancient Roman city was lost, and it was not until 1710 that a farmer, Ambrogio Nucerino, digging a well to irrigate his vegetable garden, recovered many valuable marble fragments, which only later were understood to belong to the theater of the ancient city. This tour consists of a pleasant walk around the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, buried by the ashes of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
