Experience life in an ancient Canarian village on this self-guided tour. Step back in time and see more than 100 life-size figures and informative texts available in 4 languages. Explore the archeological museum at your own pace, stroll around the historic village, and learn more about aboriginal culture and traditions. Enjoy the incredible views towards the Fataga ravine and the Maspalomas dunes. A snack bar is located on the premises where you can purchase typical Canarian food.
Head to the Bandama volcano, the first stop on this 8-hour tour. See the largest crater of an extinct volcano on the island and enjoy views of the east coast, mountains and Las Palmas. Continue to Santa Brígida, admire its historical center and grab a coffee at a traditional coffee shop. Continue up to Pico de las Nieves, the island’s highest point. Take in views that often include the neighboring island of Tenerife. Visit San Bartolomé, a mountain village with an ethnographic museum that you can visit free of charge. Stop for lunch at a traditional taverna in the village of Fataga (additional cost). Afterwards, head to the beach at the edge of the Maspalomas sand dunes.
The guide was very well informed, interesting, helpful and cheerful, without being “in your face”. I had arrived at the tour meeting point by rental bike, and at the end of the tour he insisted on accompanying me to where I had parked it to make sure it was still there (it was!)

Off-road jeep safari", it sounds fun, right? It's what we thought too when we booked this excursion and it's why we ended up on Señor José's ( a true gentleman by the way) authentic Landrover Defender's back seats. Although you stay in the southern part of the island, the route up the main crater is just amazing. Eating dust (yes, better not dress too fancy) while enjoying the views on some Gran Canarian canyon. It's very nice. At the end there's the possibility to do a short camel ride but we decided to pass on this one (we're not huge fans of using animals for commercial purposes... a personal opinion though). Overall, a very enjoyable and relaxing excursion.
Great organization, the transfer went very well with Nicole. Then I was changed from 4x4 to put me in a Franco-Spanish group with José the guide. Very professional and knowledgeable who gave us advice throughout the day. Many stops during the Safari to take photos and have explanations. Stop for lunch in a restaurant (personally I did not find it exceptional; chicken thigh, 3 pdt and salads). I highly recommend this visit :) The views are to die for!
Thanks to God for some reason decided to take this tour instead of driving ourselves, with small engined car not sure if it wouldn’t be possible to get to the places we got with the jeep and absolutely no hassle as you don’t have to drive those narrow roads, our guide Jose was brilliant, plenty of stops for pictures and all. Day spent better then expected! By the way, Jose photography skills on top, should work for Vogue
Great trip into the mountains with Land Rover Safari vehicles. Dirt track roads, hairpin bends with abyssal drops over the edge all add to make this a worthwhile trip. Go for the included lunch to get genuine Gran Canarian food. Highly recommended!
Very nice adventure I recommend ... ideal for discovering the hidden parts of the island .. very good meal.
