1. Fes: Private Cultural Day Tour
You will begin your guided Fes tour as you are picked up from your accommodation. From here you will begin driving towards the captivating sites and old monuments of this ancient city. Your professional guide will begin by taking you to the ancient core of Fes, the old Medina. Here you can wander through the old narrow streets which are lined with small traditional shops selling the most mesmerizing handicrafts and Moroccan handmade items. You will walk through the alluring charm of the Medina, being able to admire its colorful streets and rich tapestry of life. You will soon find yourself at the largest and oldest tannery in Africa, the impressive “Chouara Tannery”, where real leather is being naturally shaped and colored. You will then continue your tour to the ancient schools of Fes. Founded in 859 A.D. by Fatima Al-Fihri, the school is an incredible example of spectacular Arab architecture. You will then visit some old Quranic Schools such as “Medersa Bouanania" and “Medersa Al-Attarine”, which was created by Sultan Uthman II Abu Said. Following this, you will visit the magnificent “Zaouia Moulay Idriss II", the spectacular and sacred shrine of the founder of the Fes Medina. Next, you will move to the Nejjarine Museum of wooden arts and crafts, where you can enjoy seeing decorated tiles, musical instruments, and intricately carved cedar eaves overhead. After a break for lunch, you will leave the ancient part of the old city to begin discovering some other magical wonders. You will visit the marvelous Royal Palace, which contains the tremendous Seven Gates and was perfectly made with the most captivating copper. Moving on, you will travel to the old Jewish Quarter “Mellah” and the Jnane Sabil Gardens. Here you can get some fresh air and admire the beautiful centered Moroccan fountains. Your guided tour will later end after you visit the northern and southern protective towers of Fes, allowing you to achieve the most fascinating panoramic views over the entire Medina.
