From Tbilisi: Private Tour to Sabaduri Forest

1. From Tbilisi: Private Tour to Sabaduri Forest

Discover Sabaduri Forest with stunning natural scenery. Located near Tbilisi, the area is less than 50km from Tbilisi. During the day, visit various fascinating and hidden places in this city.  En route, pass Tbilisi Water Reservoir and the monument Chronicles of Georgia, known as the Stonehenge of Tbilisi. Sculpted by Zurab Tsereteli, it chronicles Georgian history. The top part of the 30-meter columns features kings, queens, and heroes, and the bottom depicts stories from Christ's life. Sabaduri Forest is impressive year-round. In the summer, the forest is lush and perfect to escape the heat, have a rest in nature, and make a barbeque. During autumn, explore mixed-colored nature. In the winter after fresh snow, admire scenic and untouched landscapes of snow-covered trees and roads.

From Tbilisi: Private Sabaduri, Ananuri, & Gudauri Day Trip

2. From Tbilisi: Private Sabaduri, Ananuri, & Gudauri Day Trip

After departing from Tbilisi to Kazbegi early in the morning, you will travel 160 kilometers along the Georgian Military Road. This famous road runs between Tbilisi, Georgia and Russia, and on the way, there are some very interesting places to visit. You will begin by visiting Sabaduri Forest, a place which is breathtaking and is reminiscent of scenery from a children's fairy tale. Afterwards, you will reach the Ananuri Fortress, a 16th-century castle complex on the Aragvi River. The fortress stands beside the famous Georgian Military Highway, overlooking a large Jinvali lake. Its high, turreted stone walls protect two churches, a watchtower, and a reservoir. The main church facade is beautifully carved with animal, floral and Celtic style patterns. Your next stop will be Gudauri, a remarkable ski resort in Georgia. The resort is at the altitude of 2,200 meters-above-sea-level, and offers high-quality skiing opportunities between December and April. In Gudauri, you can enjoy beautiful views, ski, or glide up the mountain with the cable car to a height of almost 1,000 feet. Adrenaline seekers can even try paragliding.

We really enjoyed seeing the Chronicle of Georgia monument as well as the Sabaduri Forest. Ladu, our guide, and Shalva, our driver, were terrific. Shalva was right on time and was also a very safe and courteous driver on the sometimes crazy Georgian roads. Ladu’s English is excellent and he’s super knowledgeable as well as just a lot of fun. We enjoyed this quick private tour enormously and would highly recommend if you’re looking for an interesting few hours outside of Tbilisi.
