Full description
Departing early from Funchal to a viewpoint with delightful views over Ribeira Brava village, the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful mountains. From there you travel to São Vicente in the north, known for its vineyards, volcanic caves, and Madeira's wine production. Then you will visit one of the most famous viewpoints on the north coast where you can see a waterfall that resembles a bride's veil due to the abundance in the water, Véu da Noiva. On a clear day, you can see the island of Porto Santo. Continuing the tour, you will stop at the natural pools Seixal where you have the chance to swim in crystalline waters and enjoy the beautiful scenery around them. You will also visit Porto Moniz’s volcanic pools which is one of the most visited places in Madeira. Then you travel uphill along an off-road to Paúl da Serra, the biggest plateau of the island at nearly 1,500 meters elevation with stunning views. There, you have the option of a lunch break in a typical Madeiran restaurant. Next, you will go to Cabo Girão, Europe's highest sea cliff and the second highest in the world with 580 meters elevation, better known for its suspended glass floor viewpoint. Finally, visit Fanal, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal, with centenary trees in the middle of the Laurissilva Forest.

This was an excellent trip seeing lots of different aspects of Madeira and having some fun being driven by Chris in the Land Rover. We stopped for an hour to go swimming at Porto Moniz which was definitely worth doing - there weren’t many people and they have really good changing rooms and showers there. It was misty up in the mountains so we didn’t get the views but this was more than made up for by seeing the ancient trees at Fanal emerge from the mist as we walked amongst them. Lunch stop was good and including the viewpoint was a good way to end the day. Be prepared for some fun driving!

Cool trip to the most known and must-see places of the north part of the island. Doing so in the 4wheel made it more fun and let us travel some different roads. The guide and the vibe is upbeat, and it’s encouraged to participate - it’s not trip for those who just want to sightsee, but for sure a trip for those who wants some fun on the way!

We had a fantastic day on the 4x4 tour. With Bruno as driver and a nice international group we left for some highlights of the island. Bruno told a lot along the way, used a lot of humor and was attentive and caring for the group. His English is excellent and he had an answer to every question. Both the off-road experience and the places to visit were spectacular! We personally chose this west tour (among all the others) because of the small group (max 8 people), the experience of the ride, and the visit to Fanal. Fanal is a nature reserve that is not normally offered on trips to the west and has a special laurel forest. There was also time to take a dip in 'the natural pools' of Porto Moniz! We had a very nice day. Recommended!
