Full description
Depart from Funchal and head to Serra d’Água in Ribeira Brava, with beautiful views surrounded by dense vegetation and tall mountains. Reach the Encumeada viewpoint at 1007 meters above sea level to enjoy magnificent views over the valleys, north and south coast of the island. Continuing through a nice off-road route with spectacular views over São Vicente, Paúl da Serra, and Porto Moniz, and arrive at the most important and iconic vineyards in the north of the island, located in São Vicente. In this wonderful and interesting property, take a guided tour with the owners to learn the ins and outs of wine production process and wine culture. After the tour, delight yourself in a wine tasting experience. After lunch, continue towards Cabo Girão, the highest cliff in Europe and second highest in the world measuring at 589 meters. It is notable for its renovated viewpoint with a suspended glass floor. Finish at Câmara de Lobos, visiting the best Madeira wine lodge to taste the famous 3, 10, and 15-year-old Madeira wines.

Excellent day out in a Landrover Defender with our friendly and knowledgeable driver and guide Rui. Viewpoint stops along the way including some Poncha tasting at a small honey museum. Lovely views while wine tasting before a delicious lunch by the coast in Sao Vincent’s (additional cost but good value for money). Spectacular views from the Skywalk before some Madeira wine tasting to finish off the day. Wonderful.

A lovely day spent exploring the island with our very knowledgable driver and guide Rui. We got to see parts of the island we wouldn’t otherwise have been able to, including some fun off roading. We were lucky to have great weather and the views were fantastic. The wine tasting at both locations was lovely, and the tour of the vineyard was great, what an amazing place to sample wine and enjoy the views. We did come away with a bottle or two, but there was no pressure to buy. The Land Rover was good fun and having a driver who knew the roads so well and could discuss the history and the sights was brilliant. I would highly recommend- we have only been here for a few days on a short break and this trip has made the holiday. Thank you.

This tour was way better than we ever imagined. Our tour guide Gill was fantastic; friendly, knowledgeable and a brilliant driver (which was definitely needed on some of his 'shortcut' roads!). Highly recommend this tour for anyone that loves wine and wants to see a lot of what the island has to offer.
