Garajonay National Park: Our most recommended tours and activities

  • From South Tenerife: La Gomera Island Tour

    1. From South Tenerife: La Gomera Island Tour

Travel back in time on a tour from the south of Tenerife to the nearby island of La Gomera. Catch the fast ferry to San Sebastián de La Gomera. Then, drive from the capital through the valley of Hermigua toward Garajonay National Park.

Travel through the forest of “El Cedro” and marvel at its unique vegetation. Enjoy lunch at the top of the island while watching a demonstration of how the locals perform their unique whistling language called "Silbo Gomero." On your way back, pass through "Chipude" and "El Cercado." Admire the impressive rock of "Agando." Learn the history and culture of San Sebastián, and see the church of Asunción where Christopher Columbus prayed before his journey to the New World.

Un solo guía que repite lo mismo en 4 idiomas, creo que debería avisarse porque termina agobiando, la parada de la comida es muy temprano rondando la 1 de la tarde.

    2. From South Tenerife: VIP Gomera Tour

Leave from Playa de las Américas in the south of Tenerife on the morning boat for San Sebastián de la Gomera. Get the luxury treatment in an exclusive area with free food and drink onboard. The island of Gomera has much to offer, including its stunning landscapes and its people, the incomparable Garajonay National Park and the history of the cultural heritage of the whistling language. You’ll have time to stop to enjoy a meal and to visit some of the island's picturesque villages. Discover the island that was the bridge to the discovery of the New World. Return to Tenerife by boat at the end of the tour.

The island of Gomera is absolutely stunning and the tour very enjoyable. There are plenty of stops for photo graphs and the mountain top restaurant picked for lunch has amazing views. The only thing I’d warn people about is this may not be the right trip for anyone with a fear of heights as not only are some of the roads used narrow with passing places there are a lot of tight corners when you see how close to the edge of a clog you are and how far down it is. This also applies to lunch as most tables are next to the floor to ceiling glass windows and it’s a very long way down.

This tour requires ...

Accually the Organisation was Perfect. Very interesting excursion in three languages. It was gorgeous. The only thing - we did not visit Windmill where they do gofio as it was promised. And as for me made too little stops and had only 30 min in the capital to visit all the places connected with Columbus. We looked for it ourselves (thanks google maps) as the group went to have ice cream. But we managed to see wonderful nature of the island and had perfect lunch. For those who has problems on ships , it is better to take paper bags and sit in the front. The vases are very strong. I felt very sick.

Very positive experience, we really liked it. Especially for the viewpoints and sites that we visited, all accompanied by the explanations of our guide Marcel, it was very entertaining. The driver, Gustavo, has skill behind the wheel and gave security.

Everything was quite amazing. Loved the island and the food was great. The only thing that made me sad was the fact we could not go to the Colón’s house and the church he last prayed before sailing to the new world.

With Marcel as the guide, the tour was a great experience ... especially his adorable way of telling stories was always captivating. Food was great too ... all in all recommendable.

It was all as expected and more (well, maybe the 4-language monologues were a bit odd but I guess that's the best way to keep everybody informed).

Great day trip from Tenerife. The island of La Gomera is beautiful and definitely worth a trip. The organization and the process were very good.
