Drive 2 hours to Golubac Fortress, a 14th-century structure located at the entrance of the Iron Gate National Park. Explore the Green Zone of the fortress and admire the widest point of the Danube below. Less than an hour long drive from Golubac Fortress, take a short walk in order to reach Kovilovo viewpoint from which you will enjoy the view of the entire Valley of Donji Milanovac, where the Danube is 2 km wide. Continue with a scenic drive through Iron Gate Gorge, the longest gorge in Europe, that consists of four gorges and three valleys. The most beautiful gorges are Mali and Veliki Kazan, where the Danube narrows to just 140 meters and reaches a depth of more than 90 meters. Stop at a viewpoint next to the road and admire the most stunning part of the Danube. Here, see the statue of King Decebalus, the last king of Dacia, commemorated as the tallest rock sculpture in Europe. A pleasant 2-hour drive will take you to the first stop, Golubac Fortress, located at the entrance of the Djerdap Gorge where the Danube is at its widest and nature is at its greenest. It was built at the beginning of the 14th century as a border stronghold of strategic importance. Hat Tower, formerly used as a pier of the Fortress, nowadays is the main symbol and trademark of Golubac Fort. Tour continues with a one-hour drive through the picturesque Djerdap Gorge with short stops on the way for taking memorable pictures. Your tour will start from Tekija and will last for one hour. On your way back to Belgrade, make one more short stop to see the Boljetinska river canyon, significant from the aspect of the geo-heritage protection, since the complete geological history of Serbia from Paleozoic to Cenozoic, can be observed in it. Return to Belgrade in the early evening hours, drop-off at your accommodation.

The tour with Bojan was excellent. He went out of his way to tell us everything we wanted to know about Serbia. The boat tour on the Danube enhances the fortress's visit, which offers different perspectives and even glances across the border to Romania. I would very much recommend this as a refreshing excursion outside the city!
