9. Full Day Private Tour: Lisbon's Heritage and Modernity
The tour begins at 8:30 AM with a pick-up from your hotel, apartment, or ship. This ensures enough time to enjoy the program with no rush.
This private tour focuses on the national monuments in Lisbon, and the program allows some time to visit the inside of some of the monuments. Nevertheless it can be altered and other routes can be arranged in order to best reflect your interests as the experience is there for the sole purpose of your enjoyment.
The first locations to visit always depend on the initial location but in most cases, start at the most important avenue of the city with Eduardo VII Park at the top, and then proceed to Baixa, the Downtown area, Restauradores, and Rossio Squares and proceed to the Cathedral of Lisbon with a small stop for photos and, time permitting, a visit inside the church.
Next, proceed to the bellevues of Sta. Luzia and N. Sª do Monte which offer some of the most beautiful views of the city. The 18th-century Aqueduct is the next stop, before proceeding to the Chiado area where you can enjoy the opposite view of the castle.
See the Jerónimos Monastery, the Tower of Belém, and the Discoveries Monument are the most emblematic monuments of the Portuguese discovery era. After Belém, you will proceed back along the river to Terreiro do Paço square, and the central square of Lisbon. Proceed to the eastern part of the city, the Casa dos Bicos, Fado Museum, the Train Station of Santa Apolónia and the national Pantheon.
Finally, go to the Expo 98 area, a totally new area of the city with museums, gardens, and the River Tagus, and return to your hotel at 5:30 PM.
