Full description

Explore Gran Canaria on a guided day trip from Las Palmas in an air-conditioned vehicle. Journey to the summit of Gran Canaria, view the volcanic landscapes of the Roque Nublo monolith, and visit the Cross of Tejeda to taste some local delicacies.

Depart from the Las Palmas city center and drive inland towards San Mateo. Have some free time to visit the local farmers market which stocks plenty of local products (only open on Saturday).

Continue driving to reach Pico de las Nieves, the summit of Gran Canaria, which sits at 1,959 meters where you can enjoy stunning views of the high neighboring peaks, and if the weather is clear, see all the way to the island of Tenerife.

Make your way to the Roque Nublo, a huge volcanically-formed basalt rock that is over 65 meters. Stop at the Cross of Tejeda where you can taste plenty of local Canarian products such as cheese, honey, and fruit.

Visit the village of Teror, where you can go for a walk through the charming village and see the Basilica of the Lady of the Pine. Return to Las Palmas at the end of your day trip.

We had such a brilliant day out. Visiting all the places we wanted to see but were too concerned about hiring a car because of the winding roads. This was perfect, Barbara was a very carful and skillful driver and our guide Fran was fantastic. He went above and beyond to tell us everything about the places we visited on the tour as well lots of information about the island and the agriculture, fauna, culture etc. I can not praise him enough. Thank you Fran I can not recommend this trip highly enough, especially if you can have Fran and Barbara as your guides.

This was a great day of exploring the highlights on the island. The guide was very knowledgeable and customised the trip around the bad weather we had to make the most of viewing points. I'm sorry to have not gotten her name correctly, but believe it was "Selini?" <--sorry! The restaurant for lunch is the only thing we would change (and we're not picky), but it really was pretty bad. That being said, it wasn't why we joined the tour either so don't be put off by that. The tour bus holds about 20-25 people so a bit more than we usually like to travel with, but mad the winding roads a bit more comfortable than one of those very large buses. Barbara, our driver should also be commended. The guide knew we had another appointment at the end of the day and made a special effort to get us to our hotel entrance in time which was also much appreciated.

We were in the bus with both spanish and english tourists, thats very 'fussy'... the guide has to talk nearly the hole time. He maybe forgot us a bit for english, he often talked 20 min for spanish and maybe 5 min for english, so what we missed...we don't know. The stop at Crus de Tajeda is very long, could have been shorter.
