It is a traditional suburb of the Granadian gypsies from India, who arrived in Spain in the 15th century. Portrayed with great mastery by the poet Federico García Lorca in his book Romancero Gitano, the gypsies dance the traditional and unique Grenadine Zambras inside their caves.
