Embark on a half-day scenic tour through the Salzkammergut to Hallstatt. See the town of Hallstatt on a guided tour and explore at your own pace after. Admire the Mullbach waterfall and the Bone House. Start the trip from Salzburg with a drive through the famous Salzkammergut en route to Hallstatt, known as the Pearl of the Salzkammergut. The route will take you through a number of charming villages, as you listen to an introduction to Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut. If you wish to do the Hallstatt Skywalk, please make your own arrangements and also considering an hour timewise from your 2.5 hours stay in Hallstatt.   On arrival in Hallstatt, enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to take in the sights. Take a leisurely walk along the lake and marvel at how the houses above you seem to cling onto the mountainside. Pass by the Mullbach waterfall and visit the local museum. A must-see attraction is the Bone House behind the Catholic church, which will give you an interesting view into local family life (admission not included). After meeting your guide in your hotel (or any other location in the city) escape Salzburg for a private excursion to Hallstatt. Journey along the emerald-green Fuschlsee to the first stop at Castle Fuschl. Travel on to St. Gilgen and take a stunning photo of the beautiful scenery from a great view point. Leaving St. Gilgen and driving along the Wolfgangsee our trip will bring you to Bad Ischl, famous for its spa and the Emperor’s summer palace. In Hallstatt you can choose between taking the panorama funicular railway up the mountain and experience the magnificent World Heritage view 360 meters above town, on the Hallstatt sky walk and continuing on to the oldest salt mine in the world. Alternatively you can visit the 5 Fingers viewing platform – this is probably the most spectacular viewing platform in the Alps and reaches out like a hand over the 400m drop. But it is not just the viewing platform it is also the route there that offers plenty of special features. After your adventure in the mountains or the salt mine you will have enough time to discover all the hidden gems as well as the must-sees of Hallstatt, as well as to have lunch in one of the beautiful lake side restaurants (at own expense). On your way home from Hallstatt, the Gosausee with its backdrop of the glistening Dachstein glacier awaits for a short stop. Then, journey on along the Dachstein mountain range through the ski resort of Russbach to Golling and finally your guide will drop you off at your hotel or any other destination in the city of Salzburg.

Would definitely recommend this day trip - it was well worth the drive! It was easy and convenient to take the bus. The bus was clean and new. The guide gave lots of commentary along the way which was very interesting. The town itself was surpassed our expectations, we just loved it.
