Full description
Your tour guide will you at your hotel and give you some brief information about the biking route. Start the trip by cycling along the Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural along the Red River. It has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest pottery-decorated road in the world. Stop at the Quang Ba flower market, which is the floral hub for wholesalers who arrive with bundles of roses and chrysanthemums tethered to their bikes and mopeds. One day when you are far away from Hanoi, you will miss the colorful and fragrant corner of Quang Ba flower market. Next, go to Ba Dinh Square, where you can witness the flag-raising ceremony at dawn in front of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. On the way to West Lake, you will have a chance to do exercise and dance with locals beside a romantic lake. The last stop-over is the local market, which is busiest in the morning so it’s the best time to experience all the hustle and bustle! At the end of the tour, sit down at a local good restaurant to enjoy Pho – a Vietnamese dish that is world famous. Refresh your mind with a traditional Vietnamese green tea.

Le Xuan (Sam) was an excellent tour guide. He ensured I was safe, gave a good overview of the history of some of the sights we visited, and was very personable. It was great to get to know him as a tour guide and on a personal level. What should one expect during or as part of the tour: 1. An early start time. I was picked up at 5:30AM. 2. To sweat especially if you’re nervous about traffic on a narrow street. 3. To try food and drinks you might not be used to. 4. Light traffic during the early hours. 5. You’ll stop a few times along the way to take in some of the sights.

Seeing Hanoi waking up was a great experience! The guide Sam (Luong) was not rushing and giving enough time and info to wonder, understand and enjoy. I definitely got a better feeling about how people live in Vietnam (from morning sports over spiritual routines and, of course, food). Cycling was also a nice way to explore: much easier to move with the flow than trying to find a path as pedestrian (although it doesn't hurt if you have some cycling routine because the traffic will need all your attention). I also liked that the company supports community projects. The only thing that could be improved is to mention the rough pick-up time already in the tour description (05:30am!) and then inform participants one day in advance of the exact pick-up time. I had already spent some time in Hanoi and was looking for a tour that would give me a new perspective. Thanks to Sam, mission accomplished! Highly recommended!

Absolutely brilliant early morning bike ride tour. Well worth the initial discomfort of a 5am start. Have learnt so much and seen Hanoi as she wakes - fascinating. Saw the reverent pomp and ceremony of the flag raising at Ho Chi Minh’s tomb, the early morning exercise clubs for the older Hanoian residents, lakes, flower markets. Had delicious Vietnamese pho for breakfast and egg coffee in the oldest coffee shop in Hanoi, meeting the very old, lovely daughter of the founder, still serving coffee the family traditional way. Long, our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. Totally recommend.
