The trip was great! Only reason the review is 4 stars and not 5, is because the rest of the group was very indifferent about all the activities and that affected everyone's mood.
This Land Rover excursion is the perfect way to explore the central part of Crete, visiting 2 different plateaus and learning about mythology as well as local life. We head out in the Land Rover to the plateau of Katharo, passing through the largest forest on Crete. The roads here are basically non-existent and the mountains reach heights of 1,500 meters. You’ll have a refreshment stop at a kafenion (coffee shop) somewhere in the wilderness. The tour continues on along dirt tracks, through valleys, and across rivers, and the journey starts to get exciting! At the next stop you’ll have the opportunity to take photos from a spectacular viewpoint above the Lassithi Plateau. You’ll then head to the plateau to enjoy your BBQ lunch, along with unlimited wine. After lunch you’ll travel back in time as you visit the Eco Village, where you can see local crafts being made by traditional methods...

We had a wonderful day out in crete. We were picked up exactly on time and we drove to the plateau. The driver/ guide drove very considered while at the same time telling about Crete, the people and history. We visited the impressive caves after a nice climb. Afterwards we went to the wine tasting. It seemed to me a rather long drive. But the winery was worth it.

After waiting 30 minutes for a british couple that was supposed to show up, my wife and I got a lovely private tour of Knossos. The guide, Ionna Glypti, was fantastic. We learned a lot about the biases that early researchers had, and got the most up-to-date information from our guide, much of which contradicts the posted signage around the site. The tour was one of our best experiences in Crete. We highly recommend this shit!
Certainly worth booking a small tour - ours had 5 people on it. The guide was friendly, very knowledgable and as it was a small group we were able to ask lots of questions. We felt she was passionate about Knossos. She was also helpful about general questions about other activities in the local area.
Very long and very hot, exhausting day but so worth it to visit the gorge! Please be prepared with actual hiking shoes or you will not make it through the entire hike. Water is frequently available at rest areas on the journey. The gorge is worth it and beautiful!
Fantastic job by guide, in particular assisting a nearly deaf person. Managed the group well to avoid interfering with other folks at site, and to keep us together.
Tour makes the entire visit worthwhile. Guide is excellent, knows so much about the site (and where to find spots with shade). Well worth the money spent.
