Full description

One of the most stunning sights to see in the Hoi An area is My Son, a spiritual center of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Situated in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountains, My Son is about 45 kilometers away from Hoi An. Join a shared or private half-day trip to visit this special site. Letters from the 4th century were found during excavations at My Son, revealing that the temples of the complex were used to worship and make offerings to the Hindu gods. In 1999, UNESCO designated My Son a World Heritage Site. Originally built from wood, the temples were completely destroyed by fire in the 6th century and then rebuilt in the 7th century with locally made bricks. By the 13th century, more than 70 similar temples had been built, establishing My Son as a sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom.

Worth the drive!

A beautiful experience! My only complaint was that the van ride there was very very hot, and I was not feeling well, our tour also ran an hour later than listed, but it was not an issue for us. Our tour guide was very well spoken and knowledgable. We did not want this tour to take up the whole day so the half-day option was appreciated.

Really interesting site and excellent guide

Enjoyed the tour and your guide was excellent. Particularly appreciated (bearing in mind the early start) the specific pick-up time being sent through the evening before. However, the van used is not big enough for western length legs: a slightly roomier van would make the journey to and from the temples much more comfortable.

My boyfriend and I had a really good time visiting My Son. Our tour guide was very informative and answered all questions we and the other people in our group had. We had plenty of time to wander round the ruins and take lots of photos and we didn’t feel like we were rushed. We were picked up and dropped off directly at our home stay too which was very handy! Definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Hoi An.
