For us, visiting the pyramids was an absolute must! The drive is extremely long, but it's worth it! The four of us were lucky enough to be taken care of by two top guides. Achmed and "Atacke", both experts and super entertaining! With the get your guide offer, I would have wished that "optional" offers such as a boat trip and camel ride or carriage ride around the pyramids had been booked at the same time, since both are actually indispensable. So you should definitely have at least 30 euros pp in your pocket plus money for drinks and TIP for bus drivers, guides, coachmen or even for going to the toilet. The almost obligatory visits to papyrus workshops or perfumeries are entertaining and require steadfastness if you don't want to buy anything, but the time would be better spent on the real sights. We would book the tour again - with the same experts - at any time!

I took my 6 years old son for a day trip in Cairo. He is a very tough boy and slept all the time to Cairo and back but trip can be tiering. We were picked up from hotel by taxi and taken to Hurghada to join 4 other people. We travelled in a mini bus, 6 people so we had plenty space for ourselves. With my son we had all seats at the back of minibus to stretch and sleep on the way there and back. After 6 hours of drive, toilet stop we arrived in Cairo.

Great day and as we were a small group we had time for extra stops. We added a boat tour, a visit to demo on the production of papyrus and had coffee and info about essential oils. Plan to bring some extra money for that. I saw and learned a lot today as was my goal.
