Hot Air Balloon Ride over Ibiza

1. Hot Air Balloon Ride over Ibiza

Take a dreamy sunrise balloon flight over the beautiful island of Ibiza! In the morning, the temperatures will be cooler and winds stabler, perfect for floating gently along with the wind. Board the basket before the sun rises, and the adventure begins as the balloon slowly begins to rise.   Being on a hot air balloon is a truly otherworldly experience – as you float along, you’ll feel like you’re part of the air itself, gliding with the wind, so gently that it feels like you’re not moving at all. Gaze down at the beautiful landscape below you from the perfect vantage point to take in its beauty.   Reaching the center of the island, you’ll be able to see the entire outline of the island and the surrounding sea, the island of Formentera, and, if there are no mists on the horizon, your view will stretch to the south of Mallorca and sometimes the east of the Spanish peninsula. Celebrate this spectacular view with a glass of Spanish champagne, and partake in a “baptism” ceremony in air (for which you need to choose a nickname for yourself!). After landing, you’ll be taken to a restaurant to enjoy a well-deserved breakfast while discussing the experience, before returning to the meeting point.

Great experience! Got to help set up and pack away, you don't have to but I enjoyed setting up and was happy to help pack away. We went on this in October so started a little later (7am), in San Rafael which is around €20-25 taxi from Ibiza or Sant Eulalia. Quite cold in the morning so a jumper or jacket that you can remove once you are going is a good idea. Also you need to be able to get into the basket which is around 1.5m high using the foot holes. Great to see the sunrise and the views were amazing. A few photos are taken along the way by your pilot José from his go pro on a stick so you get to take your memories with you, he sends them to you after the flight. We had a slightly bumpy landing but if you listen to the safety brief/look at the pictures inside the basket it won't be an issue (bend your knees, back to direction of travel and hold the hand loops provided). I would love to have booked direct with José so he got all of the payment. Ibiza_englobo is his Instagram.

From a departure point you will be taken to the place where the balloon is prepared for departure. You see the whole process. Takes a while. Then at sunrise the canal, really beautiful and very relaxed. In our case the landing was not very smooth, the basket banged against the ground a few times and lay on the side but everyone remained intact. Then the balloon was packed again, another job. Subsequently, the balloonists were baptized, received a 'diploma' and a glass of bubbly. We were taken back to the departure point where breakfast was served and we could chat for a while. So it's not a matter of getting in and going, just realize that. And you have to be somewhat mobile because you have to climb in and out of the basket and the landing is unpredictable because of the wind. If you like to experience that, this trip is perfect.

This was a truly wonderful experience. It was well organised and enjoyable. Jose, our pilot and organiser, communicated well and was jolly and proficient throughout the trip. It was a totally hands-on experience, as we helped to set up and take down the balloon as well as ride in it. The views were spectacular- at some points you could see right across the island. At the end, we enjoyed a hilarious baptism ceremony and a delicious breakfast. I cannot recommend this trip enough.

Amazing loved every bit of the trip. The guide José was great, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Nice flight if you are willing to get out of your nest early. But it is well worth it.
