Spend four days and three nights immersed in the natural landscapes and wildlife of the Peruvian Amazon in Iquitos on an adventurous Amazon rainforest tour. Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature in one of the most memorable natural landscapes in the world. Day 1:Following pickup in Iquitos, meet your guide and walk through the city center to see the parent church, Casa de Hierro, Malecón Maldonado, and historical houses of the rubber era. Get transferred to the river port to hop on a motor boat. Navigate the Itaya River on a 15-minute ride, then enter the second-longest river in the world, the Amazon. Search for gray and pink dolphins as you cruise up to the lodge. Upon arrival, disembark and enjoy a welcome fruity soda. Check in to private bungalows followed by a typical lunch. In the afternoon, walk through the jungle to learn more about the flora, fauna, and biodiversity of the area. At night, take another walk through the jungle. Listen to a variety of sounds emitted by batrachian insects, birds, and more. Enjoy dinner and stories narrated by the guide. Spend the rest of the night in the lodge. Day 2:Start your day with birdwatching on foot or by canoe. Roll up your sleeves and learn how to make artisanal juice using sugarcane, then savor the flavors of your creation. Return to the lodge for a typical lunch. Visit Pueblo de la Ribera, and watch the sunset (weather permitting) before dinner and another night in the lodge. Day 3:Enjoy breakfast before fishing on the banks of the Amazon River for catfish, piranhas, and more. Observe the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world, before returning to the lodge for lunch. Later, tour the contour of the area, learning about the plants and trees by the riverside whose fruits are used for their medicinal power. Admire the historic rubber (balata) tree, cedar, and the voluptuous Lupuna. Sleep overnight at the lodge after dinner. Day 4:Have breakfast before joining a canoe excursion on the banks of the Amazon to observe birds, iguanas, and other local wildlife. Trek into the Amazon rainforest on a 4-day, 3-night adventure in the Tambopata National Reserve. Check out exotic species of flora and fauna, go canoeing and kayaking, and experience this lush landscape on a tour out of time. Enjoy full transfer service from the airport. Your tour starts with the airport pickup. Feel the excitement as you are taken to a lodge 4.5 km from the city at the bank of Tambopata River. After getting your bearings, take an introductory walk through the jungle. Keep your eyes open for monkeys, birds, butterflies and other species. Learn about the importance of this area to the locals. Day 2: take off for Sandoval lake in the Tambopata National Reserve, a 3 km walk. Navigate around this oxbow lake by dugout canoe, learning about the ecosystem. After meeting your guide, you’ll head straight to the Nanay River Port, where you’ll hop on a boat bound for the jungle. Head up the Amazon River for a brief half-hour cruise before arriving at your lodge for the night. After finding your room and settling in with a small snack, you’ll head off on a guided walk through the jungle. Coming back to the lodge, you’ll enjoy a lunch of fish, legumes, and rice. Heading back into the jungle, you’ll find some of the largest trees in the area, as well as climb to the top of an exquisite viewpoint. The itinerary will be as follows: you will meet your guide at the Gran Caminata office to be transported by road to the Irapay guard post located at kilometer 28 of the Iquitos-Nauta Highway, this is the entrance to the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the park rangers, register your visit and receive a brief introduction to the protected natural area you are visiting. Your guide will explain the route to develop, the rules of conduct within the area and safety rules. Then you will start the tour to the location of the camera traps, on the way you will recognize the most representative plants and animals of the varillal forest. Approximately at noon the camera traps will be checked, the memory cards will be changed and the equipment will be kept in the field. At this point you will have already covered half of the route and it will be time for lunch in the middle of the jungle, a comforting box lunch, after a short break you will return to the guard post of the reserve, a walk of approximately 3 hours, upon arrival you will have a rest time to then project the material captured by the camera traps, you will identify the species. Finally you will get ready to return to the city of Iquitos and say goodbye at the Gran Caminata office.
