Trek into the Amazon rainforest on a 4-day, 3-night adventure in the Tambopata National Reserve. Check out exotic species of flora and fauna, go canoeing and kayaking, and experience this lush landscape on a tour out of time. Enjoy full transfer service from the airport. Your tour starts with the airport pickup. Feel the excitement as you are taken to a lodge 4.5 km from the city at the bank of Tambopata River. After getting your bearings, take an introductory walk through the jungle. Keep your eyes open for monkeys, birds, butterflies and other species. Learn about the importance of this area to the locals. Day 2: take off for Sandoval lake in the Tambopata National Reserve, a 3 km walk. Navigate around this oxbow lake by dugout canoe, learning about the ecosystem. With luck you'll see monkeys, squirrels, lizards, black caimans, birds, giant river otters, and perhaps one of the biggest water fish, the paiche. Explore the jungle at night searching for tarantulas, frogs, and chirping bugs. Get your adrenaline pumped for fun on Day 3, when you'll visit Monkey Island. Walk the canopy bridge high in the trees, as well as the zipline. Go kayaking on the river and wall-climbing. On the final day, enjoy stunning lake Yacumama, where piranha fishing is almost a sure thing and you can observe small macaws and storks.

Your tour will begin when you set sail from your meeting point at the pier of Iquitos Boulevard, cruising down the three main rivers surrounding the city of Iquitos: Itaya, Amazonas, and Nanay.  Once you’re out on the Amazon, you might see dolphins and red buffaloes swimming around you. You’ll then continue on past the city before stopping to meet the indigenous community of the Kukama, where you’ll have the chance to get to know their dances and customs and to learn about their culture.  After the visit, you’ll take a walk along the shore of the community of Father Cocha and learn about the curious history of its founder. In a nearby location, you’ll visit the Pilpintuwasi, a butterfly farm where you'll learn about the life cycles and breeding habits of these beautiful creatures. Explore the Amazon on a 3-day guided tour. Take a trip on the river, meet a local tribe, and admire stunning jungle landscapes. Day 1After pickup from Iquitos airport, head straight to the Port of Nanay to board a boat. Sail to where the Nanay River meets the Amazon. Take a 2.5-hour trip along the Amazon River to the lodge where you will be staying. Enjoy lunch and a chance to relax in the lodge's hammock room. Next, visit an eco-butterfly farm and a riverside eco-village. Return to the lodge for dinner before spotting tarantulas, snakes, insects, and birds on a night excursion. Day 2Get up early to watch the sunrise. Spot herons, eagles, parakeets, and exotic birds. Then, return to the lodge for breakfast and free time. After lunch, fish for piranhas and more. PICK UP Hotel or Airport with a member of the YAKUMAMA AMAZON TOURS team (naturalist guide) who will be there waiting to receive you, then we will take a private car (1 hour ½, approx.) to go to the city of Nauta, (Nauta port located on the Marañón River), then we will take our typical wooden-roofed boat to navigate approximately 2 hours to the Lodge, along the Marañón, Amazonas, Ucayali and Yarapa rivers, (our lodge is located on the Yarapa River). During this first navigation, you may see some activities of river birds, dolphins and river people. LUNCH TIME: Table Service / Self-service Buffet. Being that we were in the Amazon Jungle accommodations were great. Guide was knowledgeable & always helpful. I am not a picky eater so, I thought the food was great & plentiful. It was truly an unforgettable adventure. The tribes, monkey island, butterfly garden and getting to meet the locals was a wonderful experience + we did get a glimpse of dolphins….
