1. Jaipur Amer Fort, Jal Mahal & Stepwell Private Half-Day Tour
Choose an early start between 8AM and 10 AM to beat the heat and crowds. Start off with a quick tour of Jaigarh and its panoramic views of the city from the Aravalli Hills. See the “Jaivana”, which was once the world’s largest cannon on wheels. Next, drive outside of Jaipur to the UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most opulent hill forts of India, Amer Fort. Stroll through the combination of royal Rajput residences, temples, and courtyards which are laid out across multiple levels overlooking Lake Maota and the gardens. Step inside the impressive hall of mirrors, known as Sheesh Mahal or "Diwaan-e-Khaas" and see the various gateways known as 'Pol' which make for countless photo opportunities. Mindful of ethical tourism practices, this tour does not offer elephant rides to the top of Amer Fort. Then, stop at Panna Meena ka Kund, a traditional Rajasthani Baori (or stepwell) which is known for its symmetrical architecture and zig-zag steps. This delightful spot was made famous in the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and makes for a perfect memory of Rajasthan's incredible architecture. Choose to make a quick optional lunch break, at your own expense. As you head back towards Jaipur, make a final stop on the promenade of Lake Man Sagar, home to Jal Mahal or the Water Palace. This partially submerged summer palace also attracts migratory birds in the winters. The tour ends with a drop to your hotel or another place of preference within Jaipur.
