4. Jerez: 1.5-Hour Sherry Winery and Tasting Tour

Experience the unique taste of sherry wine at one of the most famous bodegas (wineries) in the world. Located in the sherry capital of Jerez de la Frontera and globally recognized for its brandies and fortified wines, González Byass has a fascinating history that includes the construction of the great Tío Pepe bodega in 1963. Make your way to the bodega in the fertile green hills, where the poignant music and dance of the flamenco was born. Among the legendary products González Byass produces, the Soberano brandy is world-renowned, while the Lepanto brandy features a distinctive bottle designed by the Royal Glass Factory of La Granja. The sherry wines produced at González Byass are made from the best Palomino grapes, resulting in a young wine that is thoroughly mixed and ripe. The wine is aged for a year in open oak barrels, as it is one of the few wines that improve from contact with the air. A noble and old sherry can educate younger ones and the older wines are stored in aged barrels and constantly replenished to maintain their quality. In 2014, González Byass was awarded the "Best Visitor Centre" in the Drinks International Wine Tourism Awards. .

The Sherry tour and tasting was an excellent start to the day. Maria, the local guide explained the sherry making process very well and the tasters at the end gave us a very wide range of sherries. Our tour in Cádiz was amazing and full of amazing views. Miguel our guide from Seville was brilliant. He presented the tour in a great and often funny way that kept our interest going and was full of anecdotal and historic information. Lunch at the many tapas bars in the market was fabulous. The best raw cod tapas at the pintxos bar and fried calamares, so fresh, as if it had just jumped out of the sea. We finished at La Caleta beach. What an amazing day. We have learned so much. Thank you Miguel, especially for not getting tired of all our questions

Marta was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, welcoming and skilled at bringing the history and stories of Jerez de la Frontera to life. It's always a joy to receive a tour from someone who's understanding far surpasses the length of the tour.

Wunderschönes Schloss

Marta is passionate, knowledgeable and professional, as well as warm and friendly. I cannot imagine a better guide to help us learn about Jerez! We learned so much and never felt rushed or tired. Highly recommended!

Marta was amazing. Full of interesting anecdotes about the places we visited - funny. We had a private tour booked and enjoyed it immensely - was not bored and really really job well done by Marta.
