I’m a born & raised New Yorker that never saw the Statue of Liberty up close. I was really surprised at this whole experience. Both islands are very beautiful and clean and you get a stunning view of Manhattan. The ferries get full, but not overbearing. Both the islands and ferries sell food & beverages. Each island has a museum which is fascinating. Make sure you give ample time to see the Museum on Ellis Island. I didn't know that to expect, and wish I had more time to view the museum in full.

Excellent! In any case, get the free audio guide and have the individual stations explained. I almost liked Elis Island better than the Statue of Liberty itself. Definitely recommended.

Once we were on the first ferry it was smooth sailing. We moved at our own pace and saw what we wanted, then got on the next ferry. When we were done, we headed back to Battery Park.

Very convenient to have no time constraints except for the first ferry that takes you to Liberty Island. The museums are beautiful

Remains a must even if super touristic View on Manhattan is just amazing
