Full description
The tour begins with a coach journey to Kate Kearney's Cottage. On arrival, you can arrange to take a jaunting cart ride through the six mile pass. This traditional Irish horse and cart ride will incur an additional cost which can be paid on the day. Alternatively, you can hike the six mile pass and enjoy the beautiful scenery at your own pace. Once through the gap, boats will be waiting on the Gearhameen River for the homeward journey via the enchanting upper, middle and lower lakes. On-board the boat, enjoy beautiful views of the national park and discover the famous Old Weir Bridge. Travel to the historic Ross Castle where coaches will be waiting to take you back to Killarney. Ross Castle is a 30 to 40 minute walk from the town center so there is an option of staying at Ross Castle after the boat trip and making your own way back to Killarney.

Very nice experience and well organized. We chose the 11 km walk (we walked 2h15 with a good pace in the beautiful Black Valley) to Brandon's cottage to take the boat. The captain of the boat was really nice and the scenery superb! Only downside, not even 5 minutes to visit Ross Castle, we had to take the shuttle directly.

    Amazing walk and views

We decided to walk the gap which was not hard at all only took 2.5 hours and we walked at our leisure, Because we walked we were able to take as many photos as we liked, if you get a jaunting car its 1.5 hours long but they go very quick so you dont really get to take any pictures when you want to. The pick up and drop off is very handy and the boat trip back was lovely as our guide had very good insights about the landscape and wild life.

    Wonderful day

Great transfers to Gap of Dunloe, pony trap was great fun, and the boat trip was good too. The only uncertainty was waiting for a pony trap, as the driver wanted a full trap (4)and everyone else was walking, so we waited for an hour to get some more people. We could have walked had we known it could take so long.
