Afterwards, you will visit the Fortress of Klis, a fort with the best view of Split and the surrounding areas. The Fortress of Klis has a history of more than 2000 years, starting with the Illyrian tribe called Dalmatae that used it as a stronghold before it was occupied by the Romans. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the site became a seat for Croatian kings. The famous series Game Of Thrones was filmed there, so if you are a fan, this is a must!

Largest green surface in Split, Marjan was declared a Park Forest in 1964. According to archaeological findings, it was inhabited as early as prehistory. Pieces of prehistoric pottery were found here. Also discovered are remnants of the temple of Diana – the goddess of the hunt. Until the 15th century, Marjan was covered with forest. Due to expansions of settlements, wars, and Turkish conquests, arson, and clearing, Marjan became a barren wasteland in only two centuries.
