We had the most incredible afternoon at the Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary feeding and bathing domesticaed Asian elephants. We learned about the owners/trainers of the elephants, the Mahouts, who often mortgage their farms and pool their whole livelihoods to purchase an elephants ($50k+). They dedicate their lives to their elephant and spend 24/7 with them caring for them. However, in order for both the elephant and the Mahout to live, they need $$. So, they will often use their elephants to log or work them to the bone in elephany riding businesses. In order for both the Mahout and the elephant to eat, this organization uses the tourist dollars earned from the bathing and feeding experience to pay the Mahout a salary to "rent" the elephant. But instead of working long hours, the elephants get to eat, bathe, and chill in the presence of humans. The staff here are so incredibly knowledgeable and kind - an absolute must-do and SO worth the price.

The private tour was great. We could tour at our own time and preferred not being in a big group. The driver even gave us water for the hike up to the Tiger Temple! We would definitely recommend this tour.

This is an amazing activity and will be a lifetime memory. The staff are so knowledgeable and caring. To get up so close and personal with the elephants is a once in a life time experience. Don't miss it

Had an excellent time. The pick up was on time and the guide was very welcoming and made sure we have enough time at all the places we visited. Overall a day well spent. Highly recommend

Do not miss! Great, charging, incredible adventure! You'll learn a lot and you'll get to be so close to these gentle giants!
