Hear how more than 1.5 million people were sent to the camps by the Nazi regime and put to death during World War II. Founded in 1947, the memorial was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 for the important story it relates. Pay your respects to the victims of the Holocaust and learn more about the genocide that shook the world. Driver contacted the day before the applicable pick up time which was good. The day we were there it was raining a lot and I had packed a bag with hat / mittens and umbrellas as well as some sandwiches as we knew it was only a short break where we could eat lunch. Once in place we are told that you can not bring bags of model larger in, and then we left the bag with the driver. This resulted in us forgetting to take umbrellas and hats as well as lunch, so the day got wet as it rained all day and we were very hungry when we sat in the car on the way back again. Security review before entering the museum.
