Full description
Discover the harrowing history of the Nazis' largest concentration camp before visiting one of the world's oldest salt mines, operating from the 13th century right up until 2007 You'll be transferred from your Krakow accommodation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, a complex of the former concentration and extermination camps that stands today as a monument to the horrors perpetrated by Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. Founded on 27th April 1940, the camp became the site of 1.1 million deaths before the end of World War II. The day's second tour is of Wieliczka Salt Mine, descending 380 steps to its first level 210 feet (64 meters) below ground. Hear the mysteries of the mine and the stories of the people who worked there, as well as the powers of nature that have ruled over it. Explore the mine's 20 chambers, including St. Kinga's Chapel – an enchanting, underground cathedral carved entirely from rock salt.

well over the going rate

I have no critiscm of the tour itself, the guides or the drivers..they were all excellent; Very informative & helpful. however I will never recommend or use this booking service again because of the extortionate charge. Compared to the actual cost of the trip, available on the day via the tour company. I paid before traveling £355 for myself and my partner to attend this tour. If we had booked direct with the tour company in Poland it would only have cost 300 polish zloty for us both (=£60!!).

Very sobering worth every minute spent just walking around.

How can you put into words when so much horror was carried out by so few people. Why did other nations not take action when it was exposed?

Excellent tours

Outstanding tours of both Auschwitz-Birkenau & Wieliczka salt mine. Our driver Kate was very helpful and stayed on an extra few hours because of a delay in the tours. Highly recommended
