Full description
This tour will take you to Kuala Selangor in the quiet hamlet of Kampung Kuantan, where one of the largest firefly colonies in the world exists. When you arrive, you'll visit Kota Melawati, formerly known as Fort Altingsburg, with its old execution block, royal mausoleum and colonial buildings. You'll experience the highlight of the tour at Kampung Kuantan. As a small, non-motorized boat (tong kang) carries you upstream in the peaceful night, you'll notice an array of blinking trees. At first, this sparkly display looks like an endless row of Christmas trees, but the synchronized, rhythmic flashing is actually produced by thousands of fireflies. Your skilled local oarsmen will make this experience a memorable and unforgettable one.

Unbeatable day. Our guide KANNAN, was wonderful. Very funny and attentive. The temple we visited was incredible, and feeding the monkeys was so much fun! The dinner was second to none, the setting at sunset was beautiful and the food was delicious. The boat ride with the fireflies was out of a movie... BEAUTIFUL. Without a doubt, if you go to Malasya you have to hire this excursion!

Here's what the pen grabbed: The evening program was then a six-hour mini-bus trip to the countryside. Drive to the Selangor river landscape. On the way, one temple is viewed. It looks a bit strange. Next, stop at the historic landscapes. We come to the hill, where stands a handsome lighthouse. Next to it is a museum. The sea can be seen a little further away. Old cannons are ready to shoot. You can feed small monkeys nearby if you wish. There are two races. I watched as the girl lifted the piece of food high in her hand. The monkey cleverly climbed up to retrieve it. And then to eat !! We drive to the Selangor River. The restaurant is mainly built on water, on piles. The table starts to carry sticks, seafood. We are on a trip with an international team. Plus we have couples from Canada and Belgium. Once we had eaten and washed our hands, it was time to continue our journey to the shore of the smaller side of the river. Here is the main destination of the trip: Fireflies

It was a lovely evening. Took a while to pickup all the passengers with traffic jam in the city. Took about 2 hours to get to the first stop to see some wild macaque and silver leaf monkeys. A short stop up walking up to the hill and there they were with lots of babies. Then it’s about 20 mins to the seafood restaurant by the river. Descent tour bus meal, crabs, prawns, chicken, veggies and fried rice. The guide Lukas was very good at organising the time and we left a little earlier than some other tour groups. We got to the firefly centre in good time and had to queue a little to get on to the small rowing boats that takes 4 people. Saw lots of fireflies. The whole cruise was about 20-30 mins. Lukas was professional, approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us all the info about places, monkeys and fireflies. Overall a good way to spend an evening.
