It is a long day, but well worthwhile as a lot is packed in. I was really lucky as I was the only one on the tour that day so had Choji, my guide, to myself. His English was excellent and he was a really interesting guide. He covered not only details about the sights on the way but also happily discussing pretty much anything about Peru that I wanted to know. Great to get out of Lima and see something of Peru. Trip to the Ballestas Islands was memorable - getting up close to the sea lions and birds. Desert and oasis impressive too. Sand buggying very much like a roller coaster. Lunch and tasting at the winery were good too. Our guide there was really informative and funny. Also very generous tasting session of eight different piscos. A well put together tour.
Lucas was our guide, and was very knowledgeable about many aspects of Lima and its history. The car ride was very long, but we brought movies/books to entertain ourselves. We had a rest stop about an hour of the way in where we bought coffee and ate from the included “box breakfast.” We then continued on to Huacachina to ride the sand buggies and sandboard. After that, we flew over the Nazca lines in a Cessna Grand Caravan which was great except for the 60deg banked turns so everyone can see the lines. Lunch was after that at appx 2pm, and we skipped the wine tasting cause our stomachs were still struggling from the flight. The ride back took about 5 hrs as there was lots of traffic going into Lima. Overall a great experience.
We had literally the best day ever with Alfonso showing us around Callao and Barranco! So good in fact we booked him to show us Lima City the following day. The sights, colour, music and art we saw were breathtaking ... from the street art in Callao to the art, music and impromptu dancing we saw in Barranco. It really was like seeing the city with a friend, not a travel guide. Highly recommend!! The following day tour included not only seeing the major sites downtown with as much or as little explanation as we wanted, but also sampling the amazing delicious local food from market stalls to street vendors! It has opened our eyes (and appetite) to Peruvian food. Thanks guys!
I chose this tour as I didn’t have much time to sightsee on a business trip. There is a lot of travelling but it’s great to see the farms and coastline as you travel (and catch up on sleep!) and all of elements are well worth the journey. The pisco tasting is very generous and the views at the oasis are breathtaking. Highlight was still the penguins! My guide was really kind and friendly. I was the only one on the trip and he was very chatty. The only downside was I booked the trip hoping to be part of a social group. However I still really enjoyed it being the only one.
Amazing tour, first stop was Balestas island and even if it's not season for watching wild animals, there was huge amount of birds, we could see some penguins too, second stop was Huacachina where the weather was amazing and I enjoyed the sandboarding and buggy ride, last stop was winery with pisco tasting, I learned something about how they are making pisco traditionally for hundreds of years and tasting was really good too, I had really good tour guide who told me plenty of interesting informations about Peru and the whole tour was fun
