They were pretty much on time to pick us up from our airBNB in San Isidro. the guide Jonothan was very nice. we stopped by some ruins around San Isidro, but only stayed outside of them. we then went through o town. The guide pointed out some sites along the way. We then went to a banking museum which was nice. We then proceeded to see a few sights as we were walking including the main square. We then went to a cathedral and toured the catacombs. They then dropped us back off at our place and did offer to drop us off elsewhere if we like. The car, guide and driver were all nice and the things we saw were fine. We finished in about 3 house. Not sure it was really worth the cost for us. I expected a bit more. I guess given it was a private tour it was fine, and I have no complaints.
Pachacamac is a really worthwhile experience. It’s not far from Lima and a relatively easy means of being introduced to Peru’s pre Colonial Cultures. The Interpretation Centre is really well laid out and I learnt a lot. Jonathan, my guide, was very knowledgeable and meant that I was able to absorb a lot in a short space of time. The site itself is interesting too, but a guide would be needed to make the most of this. A bizarre, and interesting bonus, is the garden outside the Interpretation Centre, making you aware of the rich variety of plants grown and used in Peru then and now. The only issue is Lima traffic, which meant that we were back an hour later than planned. Not a reflection the tour company, just a fact of life here.
Lucas was our guide, and was very knowledgeable about many aspects of Lima and its history. The car ride was very long, but we brought movies/books to entertain ourselves. We had a rest stop about an hour of the way in where we bought coffee and ate from the included “box breakfast.” We then continued on to Huacachina to ride the sand buggies and sandboard. After that, we flew over the Nazca lines in a Cessna Grand Caravan which was great except for the 60deg banked turns so everyone can see the lines. Lunch was after that at appx 2pm, and we skipped the wine tasting cause our stomachs were still struggling from the flight. The ride back took about 5 hrs as there was lots of traffic going into Lima. Overall a great experience.
Jordan, ably assisted by driver Alviar, was a professional and very knowledgeable guide who passed on a wealth of information about historic central Lima. Jordan’s English skills were excellent and he was easily understood and took the time to ensure all group members had absorbed relevant information. A beautiful and historic central area tour with a great guide. Highly recommended.
Great tour with a very knowlegable and nice local guide. We learned a lot about Lima’s history and highly recommend the tour. It would have been nice to visit one more sight or spend 30 more minutes in the historical center - we spent quite some time in the traffic though as it took longer to reach the city center.
