Nice bus ride, quiet. Guide provided interesting information about both castles, King Ludwig and the areas we passed through. It was easy to visit Linderhof Castle, not much walking or stair climbing although it was, in some ways, not the best time since it was late October and the small plants had been removed from the flower beds and the outdoor statuary had been covered in plywood to protect it from the ravages of winter. On the other hand, it was a great time to visit Neuschwanstein Castle because many of the trees had burst into bright fall colors, making for great photos. There's lots of climbing inside the castle so people with leg problems should carefully consider whether to go inside. Don't bring a backpack into either castle because you'll have to carry it in front, which makes climbing the spiral stairs in Neuschwanstein difficult. No photos allowed inside either castle.
This was a wonderful tour! Not only were we able to see the two castles, but we visited beautiful Oberammergau and had a wonderful lunch in Hohenschwangau. The tour guide was wonderful and provided a lot of information about Ludwig II, his life and family. The countryside was beautiful! Since we visited in October, the Fall colors were wonderful and there weren't many crowds. The only downside was that at the Linderhof Castle, many of the sculptures and exterior artwork had been covered up in anticipation of winter snow. Still, the tours of the castles and grounds were wonderful. Highly recommend!
It was a great day, even though we catch some rain. It was great to have a day outside the city, the landscape was amazing and the castles very beautiful, I specifically like Neuschwanstein. Our guide was very good.
