  • Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise or Sunset Hike

    1. Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise or Sunset Hike

Meet your guide at the Lion's Head Hike - Starting Point. There is parking along Signal Hill Road if you arriving by car. Embark on the route to the summit, climbing 400 meters along the steep and rocky path. Keeping a slow and steady pace, take time to enjoy the views and photo opportunities en route. Enjoy views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean at the summit with snacks and coffee provided before heading back down the mountain to the meeting point.

It was realllllly windy but Kyle assured it would be safe, just a bit challenging. I was a bit nervous but I’m so glad I went, it was FANTASTIC. Expect some fairly strenuous climbing but nothing anyone with a normal level of fitness can’t handle. The views all the way up are amazing but nothing beats the view from the top - absolutely breathtaking. Kyle was a very friendly guide who made us feel safe. The rooibos tea and snacks in the cafe were a great touch.

  • Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise Hike

    2. Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise Hike

Take part in a wonderful hike for families and couples and see Cape Town from 670 meters above sea level. Gaze in awe at the breathtaking landscape, and identify icons such as the adjacent Table Mountain and Robben Island out at sea. Look down on glorious beaches, including Camps Bay and Sea Point.  Avail of 2 different hiking paths to reach the summit, determined by your guide based on your level of fitness. Brave the adventurous path using staples and chains, or choose an easier route to avoid them! Whichever path you and your party feel most comfortable with, breathtaking panoramas are guaranteed. Rest at the top and watch the spectacular sunrise over Cape Town with a cup of hot coffee and some home-baked muffins.

Guide was great and well prepared with headlights, extra backpacks, water and snacks. We did not receive transport from the hotel to the mountain. Lots of people were doing the hike without a guide so in terms of value for money, this was a bit expensive.

  • Cape Town: 3-Hour Lion's Head Sunset Hike

    3. Cape Town: 3-Hour Lion's Head Sunset Hike

Of all the hikes in Cape Town, the climb up Lion’s Head is definitely the most popular. Situated between Table Mountain and Signal Hill, the peak provides 360-degree views of the city, Table Bay and the Atlantic seacoast. Taking in the sunset and the city lights from on high is a totally new way of enjoying Cape Town. You’ll make your way up to the peak on a spiral path. The ascent takes around an hour and there are gorgeous views all the way. Your passionate and knowledgeable guide will point out iconic landmarks and tell you about the history of the city. You will learn about the geology, fauna and flora of this world heritage site.  There are a number of ladders and chains that help you to the summit. If you are afraid of heights this may be daunting but if you are up for the challenge then your guide will help you all the way. At the summit you’ll be able to look down on Table Mo...

Amazing experience! The hike was so fun and beautiful. Our guide was great, so helpful and provided a lot of information throughout the hike!

  • Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunset Hike

    4. Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunset Hike

This is a wonderful hike for families, as well as for couples, as the sunset is incredibly romantic from the top of Lions Head. View the Cape from 670 meters with panoramic views of the city, Table Mountain, Robben Island, and the beaches below including Camps Bay and Sea Point.  There are two paths that can be taken to the summit: the adventurous path using the staples and chains, or the easier route that avoids them. This hike is very popular all year round especially when the moon is full. Hike down almost with no extra torchlight, the moon can be so bright. If the moon isn't full when you tour, grab a head torch and wind breaker and head off. You are able to do a sunrise hike to the top, a day hike or even a sunset hike, according to your preference.

Lions Head hike with Lynette. She was really great and told us lots of interesting facts. I would totally recommend this trip.

Our guide Darren picked us up perfectly in time and we made it to the top of Lions Head 15 minutes before sunrise. We had an awesome time and a lot of fun! We highly recommend doing the sunrise hike. Absolutly worth it.

Very nice hike. You don’t need a guide to do it if you are well prepared, physically and with mobile lightning.

You should be in good condition and have a head for heights if you choose the direct route.

Great experience and nice guide. Lance is really taking care
