The palace is situated in the eastern part of the Park of Pena, which one has to pass through to reach the steep ramp built by the Baron of Eschwege that provides access to the castle-like building. The palace itself is composed of two wings: the former Manueline monastery of the Order of St. Jerome and the wing built in the 19th century by King Ferdinand II. These wings are ringed by a third architectural structure that is a fantastical version of an imaginary castle, whose walls one can walk around and which comprises battlements, watchtowers, an entrance tunnel and even a drawbridge. In 1838, King Ferdinand II acquired the former Hieronymite monastery of Our Lady of Pena, which was built by King Manuel I in 1511 on the top of the hill above Sintra and had been left unoccupied since 1834 when the religious orders were suppressed in Portugal. The monastery consisted of the cloister and...
A very wonderful place that can get very busy for good reason. Buying the ticket beforehand allowed us to avoid the queue for tickets, which was quite long.
Board your sailboat at the Doca do Bom Sucesso Marina. Sail down the Tagus river and pass by the Monument of Discoveries underneath the 25 de Abril Bridge. If you’ve selected the sunset option you’ll have the chance to witness the sunset over the Lisbon skyline – a romantic view perfect for couples. You can choose to help the crew sail the boat (no experience necessary), or simply relax on deck.
Passeio excelente! A vista é belíssima e Lisboa fica ainda mais linda vista do rio. Eu e minha esposa adoramos.
Meet at the marina where you’ll board the yacht Mara for your 2-hour sail, cruising up the river to take in spectacular views of the city. The Mara is a 15-meter luxury sailing yacht and is fully equipped. Once underway, Champagne will be served, and your captain will tell you a bit of the history of Lisbon and its monuments. Beer and soft drinks are also available. If you like, you can try your hand at steering the yacht, or sit back and relax on deck if you prefer. You’ll sail past many of Lisbon’s most famous sights, including the suspension bridge, the statue of Christ, and many others. With a maximum of 12 guests you’re guaranteed a very personalized tour. The Champagne will keep flowing throughout, and sweet and savoury hot snacks will be served during the cruise.
Lovely end to our Lisbon trip though it might be a good idea to do it earlier as Nigel gave us some good suggestions about things to do so will just have to go back! The drinks were plentiful and the snacks were delicious! Had a go at steering the boat too. Nice group of people on board. Really enjoyed it and would recommend!

Very enjoyable cruise, great views of the city at sunset and at night. Never got to Belem by land, so it was a great opportunity to see the Tower from the water. The complimentary wine and snacks were a nice touch. Perhaps the cruise could start a little earlier to be in a better spot for the sunset itself.

It was great, even if we didn’t get the hang of the audience participation parts!
Visit Lisbon in a different way, be amazed by its colors, the way they spread over the hills and touch the Tagus River. Sail from the Doca de Santo Amaro, underneath the main bridge of Lisbon to the Praça do Comércio, one of the most beautiful plazas in the world and the heart of Lisbon during the 15th century. From there, see the old neighborhoods of Lisbon, Chiado, Baixa, Castelo and Alfama. Then, cross to Cacilhas on the other side of the river to get the widest possible view of the city. Sail close to the Cristo Rei on the south bank, cross under the bridge towards Belém to see its tower, which is part of the defensive fortifications of Lisbon. On the way back, see how the people of Lisbon love to walk, sit and chat by the side of the river; usually, the banks are full of people enjoying the sun, the river and boats passing by. We had a fantastic time on this tour! Our guide, Maria, was fantastic and so informative. We really appreciated how small the group was (only 8 of us), which allowed for everyone to get to know one another, ask a ton of questions and do what we were all interested in. I would absolutely recommend anyone this tour if they are interested in seeing two amazing sites and picking up a ton of info as they go. The only thing I would tell people in advance is definitely plan for this tour to go a little over. We learned quickly the Portuguese people don't really stick to tight timetables and it's important to be flexible and go with the flow. If you can do that, you'll have an amazing time. So just don't make dinner reservations for right after the tour - you probably won't make them. But the info you'll pick up instead will make this extra time soooo worth it!!!!
The best way to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of a city built facing the water is by boat. Glide along the Tagus river and prepare to feel amazed by Lisbon's splendid palaces, museums, monuments, churches, bridges, gardens and warehouses, which all magnificently line the waterfront. This journey, by sailboat or motorboat, will bring the magic of Lisbon alive. Seeing Lisbon by sunset is truly a unique experience. See how city changes color and the smells become more aromatic. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine as you sail through the city.
Absolutely great trip. We really loved this, plenty of wine and snacks for the duration of the trip. The guys were lovely and very knowledgeable. Would thoroughly recommend and will tell all my friends and family to do this. Very relaxing. Would recommend taking a jumper or jacket as once the sun has set it can feel a bit breezy but they did give out blankets too. Thank you for a fabulous experience

Everything excellent. Our driver Hugo called just after we landed to check timing and confirm meeting location. He was then waiting for us with a personalized sign, whisked us off to the waiting car, expertly packed the many suitcases into the back, and quickly got on our way. We ended up getting to our destination much earlier than expected. Thanks Hugo and team!
Elisabete was a fantastic tour guide. She was very knowledgeable, flexible, and made our tour worthwhile. So glad we booked!
The service was perfect and easy. The driver was very polite and communicative. I recommend!

Driver got me to airport on time and didn't kill me. What more can you ask for?
