Full description
Take a trip north from Lisbon to visit the town of Fatima, home of the majestic Our Lady of Fatima Basilica, and famous for reported religious visions in the early 20th century. We will arrive first at the basilica, completed in 1953 and built at the site of religious apparitions that gained fame around the world. The basilica holds the tombs of the three children said to have seen the Virgin Mary, as well as a beautiful and ornate white marble interior. While at the basilica, you are free to attend mass if you wish. Afterwards, we will visit various sites related to the religious apparitions throughout the town. See the very site of the apparitions of an angel, and the place of the fourth apparition of Our Lady in 1917. After seeing the home of these extraordinary events, and experiencing this unique spiritual town, we will return to Lisbon in the evening.

Punctual on schedule, on the way back they also took us back to the hotel. Very kind guide, with broken Italian along the way, introduced us to visit the sanctuary. Usual stop of the tours organized in the gift shop but at least we were able to go to the bathroom without wasting time. The time spent in Fatima was a little too short (about an hour and thirty minutes) but there were few people and we were able to visit the points of interest and do our prayers with relative calm. Overall it was a positive experience, the only variation that I would recommend would be to extend the visit time by at least another hour given the total 3 hours of travel by bus necessary for the return journey.

The sanctuary of Fatima is an important must in Portugal. Very beautifull. Unfortunately I have to join the many who wrote about the guide. I saw other tourists followed step by step by the guide inside the sanctuary while ours left us at the entrance, hinting. Nothing has been explained to us. Pick-up service from hotel in the center and instead we had to reach Pombal when we were staying on Rua Augusta! more center than that. Although then it was good because we discovered the area of Pombal which is beautiful with its parks and monuments.

Service and Tour were both good!

We chose the half day tour. The guide was good (English and Portugese). The trip from Lisbon to Fatima took about 1 and a half hours. We were picked up directly from the hotel even though we didn't book it that way which was really nice. We also made a short stop at a souvenir place just outside of Fatima which was cheaper than the ones in the city. We had about 2 hours in Fatima which was just enough time to see everything. All in all it was good. Lots of praise to the guide and the bus driver!
