It was my first time in Lisbon and at the top of my to do list was to listen to live Fado music in Alfama and Mouraria. I’ve listened to Fado for a number of years and know a little about the history but our guide, Rodrigo, didn’t disappoint and I came away feeling more knowledgeable and inspired. The tour of the area was great and gave me a chance to meet other travellers. The one memory of the tour I’ll remember is walking the streets while the tavernas came to life. The sounds of Fado coming from the tiny cobbled streets sent shivers down my spine. The experience at Alfama Grill was great and the two singers we saw didn’t disappoint. I’d definitely do this tour again the next time I’m in Lisbon. I was worried about being on the tour alone as I imagined a lot of couples and groups mainly take part but I was lucky enough to meet three other solo travellers and sat for dinner with them.

Luis was provided a wealth of knowledge on this guided trip which would have been impossible to find anywhere else. He carried with him a notebook of fascinating historical pictures, paintings, and immigration data that he shared with us all along our 3 hour journey and diligently and comprehensively answered our hundreds of questions about every aspect of the slave trade in Portugal. We cannot imagine a better guide and we highly recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in this topic.

It was a very very nice experience! I'm a huge introvert so I thought it wouldnt work for me but I decided to go for it and I'm glad I did! I got to talk to everyone and know more about each person. I'm a solo traveler so it was a safe way to taste the nightlife. The guide was not so enthusiastic tho, and we spent waaay too much time in the pubs. Still worth it imo. If you're planning on going, all you need to do is be open and let people get close to you and you should be ok!

Sofia was very personable and knowledgeable about her subject. She made the tour fun and my wife and I agreed that she made it what it was. My wife thought originally that I had booked an expensive tour, but my wife walked away afterward thinking it was well worth the cost. Highly recommended!

Superb, best food and wine experience i ever had in a tour.
